One of the objective under the pollution reduction issue of the OPMBCS is to reduce by 50% the discharged of raw sewage, septage and untreated and inadequately treated wastewater for commercial/industrial establishment by 2017. Establishments within the Manila Bay Region were monitored to determine the number of establishments complying with the effluent regulations. Pollution loading contributed by the establishments with or without discharge permit were computed to determine the percent loading that is treated in accordance with DENR standards.

Table 12 and 13 shows the total number of establishments monitored and the number of establishments with discharge permit from 2011 – 2015. BOD loading contributed by the industrial establishment monitored with and without discharge permit are shown in Table 14 and 15 respectively.

Results of monitoring showed that out of the 8,791 establishments monitored from 2011 – 2015, 3,992 establishments were issued discharge permit or 45.41 %.

The above BOD loading contributed by the industrial/commercial establishments showed that 52.95 % of the total loading is treated in accordance with the DENR standard.
